OUR STORY

I would like to welcome you to Gracefully Restored and give you a little background of how this business came to be. My name is Sue and I am a wife, mother and artist who has been restored by God's grace. In honor of being personally restored, and because I love the idea of taking something old and turning it into something fresh and brand new, I decided to name my business Gracefully Restored.

GRACEFUL FIRST STEPS

After years of working in the field of higher education, I launched Buttercup Paper Collection, a suite of mixed media note cards, in 2004. It was a great outlet to express my creativity working with paper, metal, wood and words. I will never forget walking into a small gift shop in Cambridge, MA with my portfolio in hand, and asking the owner to consider taking a chance selling my collection.

That bold step paved the way for the collection to be featured in many regional mom & pop stores as well as the national retail chain Paper Source and internationally online. I found an amazing community of professional greeting card artists and designers from across the United States, the UK and Canada that banded together as Our House of Cards, providing a source for unique paper greeting cards that was an alternative to mass-produced cards.

FAMILY VALUES

In 2005 with the birth of my first child, Kevin, I found it impossible to keep up with sales with the Buttercup Collection and faced a very tough decision - in order to continue I would need to have my collection manufactured elsewhere. But wanting to maintain that personal touch Buttercup had become known for, I opted to not mass produce the line and the Buttercup Paper Collection closed its doors and stopped production in February of 2005. I spent the next amazing 8 years staying at home with my two boys Kevin and Ben.

RECYCLING VINTAGE FURNITURE

In 2009, with the purchase of a new house and not much money for new furniture, I began collecting second hand pieces and transforming them into my own with a paintbrush.

Gracefully Restored was born out of necessity and my yearning to return to a creative outlet and has evolved to include an exclusive collection of high quality, botanically correct faux floral, found antiques and vintage items, as well as entire line of shabby chic and industrial lighting and farmhouse rustic home decor.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to visit Gracefully Restored. If you are ever in the Boston area we'd love to meet you and show you around our little shop located at 76 Main Street in Hopkinton, MA. If you should need anything at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me personally at sue@gracefullyrestored.com and I will make sure you are greeted with a virtual smile :)

Warmest regards,
